Kevin C. Lewis
Kevin C. Lewis serves is of counsel with Simpson Dattilo, LLC, where he counsels clients related to commercial real estate matters. This has included the purchase, sale, and leasing of commercial properties, as well as ancillary matters involving land use and licensing. Representative clients include grocery stores, restaurants, and gasoline station/convenience stores.
Mr. Lewis joined Simpson Dattilo after spending the previous 13-years as in-house counsel for Speedway LLC. During his tenure with Speedway, Mr. Lewis was primarily involved in real estate transactions participating in Speedway’s tremendous growth from 1,600 stores in 2008 to over 4,000 stores in 2021. His work included the preparation and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements (both as buyer and seller), lease agreements (as both lessor and lessee), all types of easement agreements with neighboring landowners, and the resolution of six and seven-figure eminent domain matters.
Mr. Lewis also supported Speedway’s construction department which included the drafting of development and recapture agreements with municipalities in connection with new-build projects, as well as the resolution of contractor and sub-contractor disputes. In addition, Mr. Lewis worked with Speedway’s purchasing and commercial services group where he was instrumental in the drafting of a wide range of purchasing contracts and service agreements. He also and drafted Speedway’s anti-money laundering policy which governed Speedway’s sale of money orders and pre-paid access cards.
From 2006-2008, Mr. Lewis served as in-house counsel for Interstate Equipment Sales & Rentals, a Kentucky-based seller and lessor of heavy construction equipment. His work there involved the drafting of sale-lease agreements, along the successful resolution of lien disputes and property and equipment damage claims.
From 2002-2006, Mr. Lewis was in private practice in Madison, Indiana. His work there included criminal defense, personal injury, real estate, and family law matters, and he had both successful jury trial and appellate experience.
Mr. Lewis spent his first seven years after law school working for two large insurance companies, St. Paul Fire & Marine (later known as St. Paul Travelers) and later with Cincinnati-based Great American Insurance Group. His work there included the oversight of maritime and environmental claims brought against insureds.

Mr. Lewis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati, and his juris doctor from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University.
